My Students

My students come to school with either no school supplies or used and/or broken school supplies. I would love for them to come to school and all have new supplies!

I teach at an inner city, low-income school.

My school is 95% low income. My students come from challenging backgrounds and some struggle with their home life. My students love to learn and love coming to school. For some students I am their only stable person in their life. This means they look up to me and love being at school which is their "safe" place.

My Project

How would you like to come to school on the first day of second grade and have nothing to put inside of your new desk? This is how my students feel in my classroom. Few students bring school supplies that are new, some students bring school supplies that is already used and broken, and a majority of students come to school with nothing. They cannot afford school supplies. Having enough money for food is what their family priority is. I would love for my students to come to school and be able to have all brand new school supplies. I know how happy each child would be and how each child would take such great care of their supplies. Not only am I requesting school supplies, but I am requesting a few classroom materials such as bags for individual student books, classroom headphone set for workstations, and writing paper to teach my students the correct way to write. My classroom would take any school supplies that could be donated! My students could also use backpacks.

This project is very important to me.

My husband and I are the ones who buy my classroom a lot of school supplies and materials. We spend a couple thousand dollars a year. I would love help with this. My school does not give money to teachers to help them out. The students are just expected to bring materials. Well, this is not something that most of my classroom parents can do. I would absolutely love help with my classroom!! I know my students and parents would greatly appreciate it
