My Students

The demand for science, math, technology, and engineering inclined minds are on the rise. I want to allow every fourth grader at my school to have a hands-on experience with fuel cell cars. This experience will allow them to see how we can use everyday items, without using nonrenewable resources.

Seventy-six percent of the students that attend my school are African American.

Twenty-two percent are Hispanic; and 2% are other . My school is a science and technology campus located in Texas. Many of the students on my campus are socioeconomically disadvantaged. The students on my campus are eager and excited about learning; and display strong interests in current science innovations.

My Project

Students will be able to experience first hand, an automobile that runs on water. They will have the opportunity to build the fuel cell car; and understand electrolysis. Also, they will be able to note the advantages and disadvantages of the fuel cell car. Pupils will then apply their new found knowledge to the impact the fuel cell car will have on the environment. The kit has thirty critical thinking and problem solving experiments that will allow my pupils to embark on issues that many engineers and scientists face when building an automobile of this distinction.

This summer I had the opportunity to teach Biofuels to middle school students for a college program.

During my training, one day was devoted to putting the fuel cell car together and running the experiments. After racing this car with my colleagues and observing the many scientific applications that can be achieved and mastered, I became inspired to bring the fuel cell car to my classroom and allow my elementary students to gain a foundation in electrolysis, combustion, and a clean Earth.
