My Students

It seems like yesterday that buying a cassette tape player/recorder was a "big" deal. Most kids today don't have a clue what a cassette tape even is, yet most teachers still have some sitting around ready to use at a moments notice.

My 7th and 8th grade students don't know it yet, but they will soon be technology gurus in this ever-changing digital age.

Even though we are a rural middle school, the kids are fairly tech-savvy with cell phones and such; but they don't realize how savvy they could be. I am always looking for new and exciting things to bring to my students, but even I am amazed at how things change so rapidly. I discovered that my students need more technology learning experiences. So, this year I have created a new multimedia class called Home Page.

My Project

Could you imagine dragging that cassette recorder to classrooms to do interviews or lugging it to another building to work with first graders on their reading? And then? Bring it back and do what with it? Listen to it again? The four digital voice recorders will allow the students to do the above and so much more! And then? Bring it back to create podcasts, blogs, webpages, audio/visual presentations, virtual tours, virtual labs, audio books for the elderly/homebound in our community. The possibilities are endless!
