Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students need to learn with innovative methods to capture their attention and engage them to learn.

My students live in poverty and 90% have free or reduced lunch.

Some homeless students live in hotels and they are preoccupied with outside factors that I can not control. Some wonder about their next meal, and others worry about the gangs in the neighborhood. These latch key kids need to be inspired towards educational goals.

My Project

Digital cameras will help change my students' lives because they will see other possibilities beyond an old textbook and worksheets. They will make and record pictorial presentations of concepts in American History; famous American trading cards, political cartoons, posters reflecting historical themes, and much more.

In order to compete with the technological world, students must be exposed to different ways of learning and photography is one avenue to pursue this idea.

They can learn about primary sources and differentiate real from fake photography. They can also learn to analyze the purpose of specific propaganda throughout history. I believe digital cameras can enrich any classroom, if used properly.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
