Read to Succeed!

My students need a variety of books and a book case to grasp their attention and spark their interest in reading.

My Students

Do you know one of the biggest challenges facing a new teacher? Creating a classroom library that both challenges and interests students while surviving on a new teacher's salary is a great challenge. My goal is to expand my classroom library to spark the interest of reading in my students.

My students are motivated to read, but have a wide variety of reading interests.

Fiction, Nonfiction, Mystery, Biography, you name a genre, and I have students who love to read it! Resources are limited in our school district, which means our school library is especially limited to what new books they have been able to add this year.

My Project

My students love to read and our school uses the Accelerated Reader program. This is my second year teaching and I have developed a new organization system for my classroom library. I have color coded the books that are currently in my library by AR level. This will help keep my library organized. The new bookshelves will help to organize my library and make it easier for students to find their level when looking for a book to read. The new books will help expand my classroom library with books that are popular and will grab the attention of my students!

Reading is the essential foundation for all learning.

Sparking the interest of students to read will help them become life-long learners. Reading will be the building block many of these students need to succeed!
