You Can Project Their Future

My students need a projector to increase their awareness.

My Students

Have you ever tried to write a story set in a different time and place or read about a group of people who have a somewhat diverse culture than yours? My students do and because of old books and the limited resources we have they are not able to better develop their stories with factual data.

My students are 8th grade pre-teens who pride themselves on technology and like to stay on top of the latest technological craze.

They are bright creative students who enjoy expressing themselves artistically. They enjoy making movie story boards and PowerPoint presentations. Unfortunately, the computer labs in our school are hardly functional and need to be updated. This does not allow them to create their projects in school nor does the class get to view each others work. Also, the resource books and magazines we borrow are old so it is challenging and hard for them to relate to.

My Project

In order, to create more effective and efficient lessons having a classroom projector will allow me the opportunity to bring the modern and past worlds into my classroom without hassle. Students can share their presentations more freely with the class, we will acquire more time for class discussions that is now wasted on pinning up and taking down chart paper or passing around old pictures. Also, students will benefit from the visual aides that will increase their comprehension and vocabulary.

Donations to this project will make a difference in the lives of my students because it will enable them to develop a broader perspective on which to view other communities and cultures.

Also, it will teach them how to use specific pieces of technology (a projector, flashdrive and laptop (mine). Finally, it will cause them to have a greater appreciation for the way they learn and the many different forms of learning.
