My Students

I have 34, 4th graders at an urban school. The majority are first or second generation Asian emigrants. I feel so lucky that most of their families are culturally supportive of education (although not affluent) and that the children are eager to learn.

We have a chair shortage, so there is no such thing as a "broken" chair!

The chairs are of mixed styles, and some are too small because they are for lower grade levels. Many have unlevel feet, which doesn't help the restless students focus. Others have broken and sharp hardware, covered with tape for safety.

My Project

Chairs should not be older than the students' parents. Please help me provide an environment deserving of these children. The goal is 34 matching chairs, funded by multiple proposals. I will continue seeking your help until we can provide for the entire class. I am grateful for the starter donation of 6 which is already received, but which makes the problem only appear more obvious.
