My Kindergarten students need your help to learn about and discover their 5 senses! I teach Kindergarten in a title 1 school to ESL students. My students come from lower income homes and many of them struggle with the English language. They need to be able to see and manipulate objects to help them understand the concepts that they are being taught. Kindergarten students are also naturally curious and eager to learn. They are very active and like to play as they learn. My Project: The materials that I am requesting will allow my students to explore their 5 senses in an active way. The 5 senses center sets will allow the students to explore their senses in a variety of ways by touching, smelling, tasting, hearing and seeing. These center sets will allow them to understand how their senses work and why they are important in their daily lives. The books that I am requesting will also help them further understand their senses by hearing literature that is on their level explain the senses. This project is important to me because as adults we take our senses for granted and don't really realize that a 5 year old is aware that they can see, hear, taste, smell and touch, but they don't understand the senses or why they have them. It is important to me that my students learn in a fun, exciting manner. I like to know that my students are having fun while they are learning. I have discovered that if my students are having fun, they absorb more. hide» My students need books and center activities to help them understand their 5 senses. details»
