Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember as a child cooking and baking in your mother's kitchen? My students have not had this cooking and baking experience in their lives.

My students are five and six years old who enjoy working in the dramatic play kitchen area.

My students love the kitchen area because they can pretend to be little mommas and daddy. My students also like to pretend to be waitress in a restaurant. The Kitchen Area in my classroom is more than twenty-five years old. The top stove is not longer a stove but a faded counter. My students will be so happy to have a new Kitchen Area. Our school elementary school is from Pre-school to fourth grade. The school is located in New Jersey. My students face drugs, gangs, shooting and lack of parental support.

My Project

A Dramatic Play Kitchen Area in my classroom means a lot to my students. The Kitchen Area will enhance their social, emotional, and responsibilities skills as they become problem solvers and decision makers. My students will then follow a recipe by counting, measuring,and weighting. The cash register will help my students to recognize money and count money. The cash register will also help then to understand money exchange as well as to identify pricing for each given food item.

My project is so important because it will make an impact in my students life.

A Dramatic Kitchen Area will help my students to be responsible and it will build cooperative learning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
