My students will be able to do exactly that this school year as we study the novel The View from Saturday. My students are third grade gifted students who crave hands-on activities with real-world applications. My students come from a range of socioeconomic levels, with the majority of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. My students are at the age where they are learning how to work in groups with each other. They are very inquisitive, eager to learn, and excited about their education. My Project: Having a class set of this novel will allow my students to be able to use the novel during our book study. As we read the novel, we will be growing our own herbal tea garden outside of the classroom. At the end of the school year, we will host a tea party using the tea we have grown throughout the year. By being involved in these activities, the students will be able to make connections between their own lives and the lives of the characters, making the characters come to life. Each of the four core subject areas, as well as creative assignments, will be implemented as we read and study this novel. Last year, I only had one copy of this novel, so I didn't study it with my students. I want my students to be able to follow along as I read and be able to take turns reading. As we grow our own tea garden and have our own tea party, I want my students to choose quotes from the novel that relate the characters' tea party to ours. I truly believe this novel will become one of the favorites of my students, and they will be learning so much and having fun doing it! hide» My students need 20 copies of "The View from Saturday" by E.L.
