My Students

My students do not have exposure to technology like this! They are in high poverty and will benefit from the hands-on experience of making their own movie from their own school work.

My students live in a high poverty area.

They are not exposed to computers and ipods and cameras unless they are at school and teachers have incorporated these technology tools into their curriculum. These are students would greatly benefit from taking projects in class (ex: reading for the first time) and making video of them and finally creating a movie.

My Project

I plan on taking video of my students throughout the year participating in projects such as reading books out loud, reporting facts found in experiments, reciting plays, and singing songs. All of these videos will be used to create a movie (along with still pictures taken). The students will learn how to make a movie using technology available through the Apple Mac Book.

I did too! Last year I took a continuing education course on technology in the classroom. We were shown how to capture moments in our classroom and turn them into a movie. I was inspired to teach my students to do the same. They will take pride in knowing this year long project was their creation.
