This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are in a new class, microbiology, for students in a high risk school in Los Angeles. I keep looking for ways to get people interested in this class, including colleges and microscope companies. I also need the you, the donors, to help with our needs.

We are a high risk school in Los Angeles, California.

Most of the students are first generation in this country, and need focus in the way America needs new people. As a scientist, I want them to understand what we would need of them as scientists, and to expose them to the possibilities of their creation. These kits I am asking for gives us the ability to study DNA and gene splicing. Something not normally given to students at this age. Let's make something wonderful happen!

My Project

I am asking for you, the donors, to supply two biological kits, involving DNA. Also, I am asking for a set of pH testing strips. The biological kits give all of the materials to extract the genes from a source, like a potato, and to use tools to understand the DNA. I have used kits like this before, and they are very good at finding the DNA, and fun for the kids!

As you might know, the school system in California, as well as in many parts of the country is in trouble.

We are a large school and are having teachers laid off, security reduced, lack of funding for anything besides basic functions of the school. We were written up as the top of school districts that could possibly go bankrupt. We need your support for the sciences! I give all I can, and I need more. Please help.
