Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss. Children's literature is a wonderful way to introduce new academic concepts while engaging children and grabbing their interest.

I teach in a Title I school where over 80% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Being a Title I school dictates that many of our funds be allocated to essential classroom materials necessary for our core subject areas, leaving little room for the ancillary instructional materials. With the budget cuts every school is now facing, adding new materials to our classroom is even more difficult without the help of donors like you. I loved school when I was younger and I want to instill that love of learning in my students by providing them with entertaining and engaging literacy centers that encourage their future academic success.

My Project

With the gift of the literacy centers and books, students will have an read aloud to introduce new concepts of letter recognition, phonics, word families and sight words. After introducing the concepts on working on them together, students can further enhance their learning during center time by exploring the book and the accompanying literacy activity individually or in a small group. The variety of materials requested allows for students to use the materials throughout the year as skills are being introduced and later to review skills that were previously learned.

We are a classroom full of eager boys and girls who are ready to learn.

By supporting our project, you are adding to our classroom library, enhancing our center time, and inspiring our future success!
