My students need Hot Dots pens and quiz cards as a fun way to build Comprehension and math skills with immediate reinforcement when working in flexible groups, especially with a class of 35 next year.

My Students

Do you remember using flashcards as a kid? Well this is the same concept except that they use a neat pen to give them an immediate response to the answer they choose. Red light for a wrong answer and a green light for a correct one. It's a fun way to use flashcards and work cooperatively in a group!

We are a low income school in Illinois and we strive to push them to the limits.

Our school currently has 1200 students and my classroom will consist of 35 next year (so far). They love to learn and many do not have the support at home to challenge themselves. The students want to get their hands dirty and feel their learning.

My Project

The Hot Dots will be used primarily for flexible grouping. Since there will be a great number of students coming into the third grade in the fall, I would like to form groups of reviewing while I am working in smaller groups. The Hot Dots are both in Math and Reading and these will be given to reinforce their learning and help them to excel. These cards will also be given to parents to check out for the weekend.

By having these Hot Dots as a resource, I believe the students will be motivated to use them because of the great sounds and lights on the pens.

As teachers, we gladly use anything that motivates our students and these are a great tool to do just that.
