Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can you help to spark the imagination of a child? The answer is with creative, interesting books. With your donation of books, my students can learn to love reading and to spark their own imagination as they read both fiction and nonfiction books.

Our students live in Utah.

I am moving from 3rd grade to 4th grade this year, and my students need 4th grade appropriate books. This year, our reading groups are called the Raptor Reading Book Clubs. In addition to our guided reading groups, students will be reading independently at their "just right" level with books from my library. I want kids to explore and choose books they find interesting. Students will also use a reader's notebook to set personal reading goals and reflect on their reading thoughts. By providing a classroom library with a wide variety of books, I hope to spark their imagination and help them to enjoy reading.

My Project

Help our kids to spark their imagination with leveled books and books focusing on our science curriculum. As students read chapter books, they feel joy, sympathy, happiness and enjoyment. They use their imagination to create mental pictures of the scenes and characters. Their imagination is also fueled by nonfiction books as they learn about the world around them. The more my students read, the better their imagination becomes. With your help, they will come to that wonderful moment when a reader just can't wait to turn the page.

As a teacher, it is important for me to see kids find the joy and excitement in reading.

I believe that books are the number one way to create, activate, and develop young minds. Knowledge and imagination empowers students by teaching them things and developing creativity. With your donation, we can help to empower my Raptor Readers with skills that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
