My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi. This quote symbolizes the help and support students need to succeed today in our society.

My students come from an urban district which does not allow them to find different ways to not only learn but to sharpen their skills.

Playing games in not just a way to keep children entertain but it helps students focus on a task as well as learn and apply many of the skills they have learned. I am a third grade general education teacher in an inclusive classroom. I work in an urban district where many of the supply money we receive only goes towards purchasing copy paper. We are not given enough to teach our students in different ways as well as challenge them.

My Project

The resources I am requesting such as chess boards, Domino's games, classroom Jeopardy game is to help students apply much of their learning in more active ways to help them realize how they can apply much of their learning and skills that they possess. These materials will allow me to differentiate as well as create an atmosphere for students to play games but to learn all at the same time.

My project is important in helping me to open up young minds to intrinsically motivate them to want to succeed to practice what they have learned and feel confident when it comes down to taking state exams because they have studied and practiced their skills in ways that will help support their learning as well as retain information.
