This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students did not have enough rug room to sit comfortably, do movement activities without being so close to each other and give their full attention due to the crowdedness of the rug.

I teach a kindergarten class.

The children that I teach come from a low income community. Most of the learning takes place at the carpet. I found that this year due to the limited amount of space I had on my rug and the large amount of children that I had, there were a lot of focusing problems and not enough room to spread out on the rug.

My Project

The bigger rug would allow for the children to have enough room to learn, focus and do more activities comfortably and without being bunched up. A bigger rug would mean that there will be more room for movement activities, a decrease in attention problems, and being able to sit without being so close to each other.

Since most of the learning takes place on the rug, a bigger rug would decrease the attention problems, allow for more movement activities with more space and siting and learning will both be done in a more comfortable manner.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
