I want them to learn to identify the clouds and make careful scientific observations. My students are urban kids who stay in the inner city. They are learning about their world and how to identify the parts of their world. They are interested in learning science because it is hands-on and fun! They'd love to explore the environment in addition to reading and writing. My Project: I'm planning on participating in the Globe program and enter cloud data in an authentic scientific study. The only problem is we only have 1 chart for the whole class. Imagine being able to go the school yard after sitting for 45 minutes and exploring the sky with your partner. Wouldn't you love to sketch the clouds with new sharpened pencils and try to find out the names of the clouds on a chart with your partner and then entering what you saw on the computer? I know my students would! Please help inner city children find the natural world above their heads and learn to love and respect the sky. Help my students learn how clouds can help us understand the weather. hide» My students need charts and cards to help identify clouds and sharpened pencils to sketch and write observations in the school yard. details»
