My Students

Research has shown that young students learn best when engaged in play with their peers. By providing items that encourage dramatic play but also teach reading and writing I will be able to help my students love to learn.

I teach 2 sessions of kindergarten in a school district that has recently undergone a split that left us with severe budget deficits.

We are left needing materials without the funding to provide them. My students learn best when engaged in fun yet meaningful activities that teach through play.

My Project

The dramatic play writing boxes, tool tote, and doctor's office materials will allow my students to explore real life situations that encourage reading and writing. The ability to have fun while learning has proved time and time again to enhance and encourage young students in their learning.

Because kindergarten is a child's first exposure to public education I feel strongly that I have an obligation to provide an environment that creates life long learners.

Providing materials that make learning fun will help me meet this important goal. This project will help me get one step closer to making this a reality in my school.
