My students need 20 yoga mats to retell familiar stories and act them out with yoga poses.

My Students

Remember back when you were a second grader and always on the move! My students want to learn yoga, but need mats to save their knees!

My second grade students are a bright, active group of children who thrive from hands-on learning.

A large emphasis in the classroom is on building their ability to retell a story using basic story elements. They attend a K-5 school is a high poverty area.

My Project

Story time yoga is a unique learning experience that combines the development of creativity , self-confidence, and a vivid imagination -- to produce a truly peaceful and literate child. Students will learn classic stories from around the world, and then act them out with yoga poses.

Not only does this project serve to enrich students' literacy knowledge, but build a lasting awareness of their body and feelings through yoga!

The yoga mats offer a tangible reminder that this learning is important and valued.
