My students need round tables and chairs that fit them and the needs they have to develop into a community within the classroom.

My Students

My students sit in broken chairs and at tables that do not provide enough room for them to work as individuals or as groups. They struggle because the chairs and tables do not fit the students.

My school is a Title I school in Mississippi.

We have limited funds for furniture for our classrooms. With the state curriculum and the changing industry, my students need to be able to solve problems and learn how to work collaboratively with each other. However, the limited funds does not allow the purchase of new materials. Therefore, my students and I went and dug in the storage for the tables and chairs they are currently using. The chairs and tables are not the correct size. Some of the tables and chairs are broken.

My Project

The tables and chairs requested in this project will build classroom community among the students. It will also make my students ready for real world problems by allowing them to work individually or as a team. With the tables and chairs, my students can conduct hands-on experiments, use math manipulatives, and discuss ideas from books or poems being read in the classroom.

The project will reach out to more than one class or group of students.

With the donation of the tables and chairs, more students in the future will be reached with the opportunity to work collaboratively or individually on hands-on projects. It is my goal to help my students grow individually and as life-long learners with in the community they establish in the classroom.
