The second grade students in this Northwest Arkansas classroom are from varied backgrounds. Some are English Language Learners, some come from lower income homes, but many are from hard working middle class homes. However, they are all eager to learn and improve their reading skills. My Project: The audio books that I have requested as resources will be the beginning of our classroom listening library. Research has shown that for students to become better readers, they must practice reading! However, many students have not had the opportunity to have lots of books read to them, so they don't know what a fluent reader sounds like. This year part of Reader's Workshop will include time to listen to books of their choosing being read to them. This will help them improve their own reading and know how they should sound when they are reading. Without your support, we will not have enough "books" to listen to during our reading time. Your donation will help my students become better readers, which in turn will help them in their life long journey of education. hide» My students need audio books to improve their fluency this year. details»
