" MORE "I have been teaching Art for 33 years, at the elementary, middle school, high school, and college level, and every situation required adequate funding for Basic Art supplies.
My current situation started very poorly. The previous teacher threw away everything in the store room thinking she would get all new supplies. She did not stay and I inherited an Art Program with absolutely nothing to work with. Since then, I have received the absolute basic materials to conduct my classes. I have 600 students and approximately $600.00 in my budget. A dollar per student, per year, doesn't go very far. I want my students to have a better experience with their exploration of Art, and this will require more materials.
My basic needs are for Crayons, Colored Pencils, Colored Markers, Watercolor Sets, and a better quality paper; we use copier paper now. I would also like funding for clay to do Ceramics, and materials that my students have never experienced before. The cost of all supplies has gone up dramatically, but your help would make such a difference for my students.
Granard Middle has 70% of students receiving free lunch, we have a high turnover rate in teachers, and our students come from lower and middle class homes. The student population is 50% white, 40% black, and 10% Asian and Hispanic. These children are excited to learn more about Art, and I am a dedicated teacher who wants the best for these students. I am grateful for such programs as Donors Choose, and thank you for all you do for our students. The cost of these supplies, including Crayola Colored Pencils and Crayons, Magic Mud Natural Clay, and Design 1 - The Elements on DVD is $1,475, including shipping and fulfillment Live Updates
