My Students: Due to a large amount of use (which is a very good thing!) our listening center junction headphone jack has finally met it's demise. Without this vital tool our listening center is entirely unable to function.

My second grade students attend a school where the poverty level exceeds 90%. Most students come from a single-parent home. Our entire student body receives free breakfast and lunch each day. Our public school is a diamond in the rough, and our students excel and soar.

My Project: With a new junction headphone box my students will be able to continue using the listening center that they love. I have also asked for a listening center storage caddy to protect the new headphone junction station so that the cords will remain safe and it will not accidentally drop to the floor. My students become so excited upon arriving at the listening center that they quickly plug in their headphones and travel off to become part of the story. By adding new stories to our collection, my students will have even more exposure to excellent literature.

By providing my students with new materials for their listening center, you will be helping unlock the creativity within the young minds of second grade urban students.
