My 30 students need a class set of "Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science", a class set of laminated microeconomics study notes, and storage bins.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Challenge your limits; don't limit your challenges." This wise quote hangs in my classroom in Harlem where my students study college material during high school.
My students, all minorities and virtually all qualifying for free lunch, have elected to take Advanced Placement Microeconomics with me next year.
These students come from what most people would call "disadvantaged" circumstances. Yet, they do not let their home conditions hold them back. They all plan to attend college after high school. They volunteered to take on this rigorous college level course to better prepare themselves for the rigors of college.
My Project
The book Naked Economics wonderfully puts many of the concepts covered in the AP Microeconomics curriculum into context. The pages overflow with real world examples that the students can relate to. It brings economics to life. The laminated study materials will be incredibly useful during our intense test preparation sessions immediately preceding the the AP exam. The storage bins will help me to keep these excellent resources clean in our old building.
These kids are hungry for knowledge.
They want to improve their life circumstances and they understand that education is the key. Please help me to educate them with the best resources possible.
