I am trying to merge the two by using Podcasting as a way to publish the creative writing they do. We want to Podcast but don't have the materials needed to make it happen! I teach 3rd grade in rural South Carolina. If you ask my students what their interests are, most of them would say "video games" or "playing on the computer". Throughout the year, I watch my students start to love writing but their interest in technology never fades. Podcasting is a way to promote writing in my classroom while giving them the technology they crave. My Project: Podcasting is a creative way to allow students to record their writing and share it with the class or even post it on a website. Podcasting is simple and easy to use and a fun way to publish writing. It is a great alternative to pasting a final copy on construction paper. The students love to record their story and then listen to their voice as it plays back. They also love posting it on the web for their family and friends to hear it too. I have developed so many activities that utilize Podcasting, however I don't have enough headphones to make it worth the time. With a class set of headphones (or even a half-set), I can take my entire class to the computer lab and we can all podcast at once. This saves instructional time and allows us to use Podcasting more. There are so many benefits to using Podcasting in the classroom. Student motivation to write and learn heightens when they get to use technology. I can’t wait to see what kind of writing they produce when they know they will get to record it and post it on the web. They love to Podcast, which in turn means, they love to write! hide» My students need 24 headphones with microphones. details» |
