My Students

Psychology! The students elected a new course where literature and Psychology are combined. I have chosen to teach it. This is uncharted territory for all. I cannot think of a better or more accessible text than Ken Kesey's classic "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." The film will help as well.

My students are artistically inclined as this is a "Fame" school where students integrate Art with their academics.

Most of them go to college although some continue to pursue their artistic work in conservatories. I am excited! The students saw the word Psychology in this new class offering and now I'm working hard to offer them the very best.

My Project

The novel (and film) "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" would be a perfect vehicle through which I can expose the students to the discipline of Psychology. The goal of the program is to integrate the masters of Psychology with great literature. I am not suggesting that Kesey's novel is a master piece, but it would be a nice introduction before we get to Shakespeare, Joyce, Woolf, and Lawrence.

The students have selected this course.

They are graduating seniors and I want them to read, think, and discuss with passion and enthusiasm. The program will be a combination of Psychology, Philosophy, and spirituality. I am...PSYCHED!
