My Students

Do you remember being embarrassed when the teacher called on you in front of the whole class?

My students are 3 graders.

They are just beginning to develop their social skills. They attend a school was almost considered a Title 1 school. Most of the time, the parents want to help out in the classroom financially but they are unable too. These students are eager to learn and love to be fully engaged in their learning.

My Project

The hand held white boards will allow me to assess the students individual learning when we are doing whole group discussion. It will allow the students not to be called upon and feel embarrassed or shy about answering the questions. Last year, I seen the same students over and over again, raise their hands and want to answer the question due to not having white boards. The hand held white boards will allow everyone to participate so my class will have 100% student engagement. The other white boards will allow peer activities. In this group setting, one is a teacher and the other one is a student. This helps students who are struggling to receive assistance from their own peers. I will also be able to facilitate their learning one-on-one to assess if they are comprehending the objective.

It is important for 100% student engagement.

Students who are engaged in their learning will be able to understand the lesson and the objectives. They will also be accountable for their own learning and not counting on someone else to answer the question for them.
