Great Music Needs A Home!

My Students

When I became the chorus teacher at my school two years ago, I was the tenth teacher in seven years! My students didn't want me there. They hated music, and especially hated having to sing it. They were subjected to many teachers who weren't passionate about the arts.

I teacher 6th-8th grade students.

They are very diverse, but in class they work as one. They attend a school that supports their work in music, just as much as they support their sports teams. Over the past two years, they have developed a great love for music, and have become a very special family. They are proud of their work and commitment to the program.

My Project

The choral library at my school consisted of extremely outdated and easy music. Together, we have spent the last two years evaluating and studying music. Through fundraising, we have purchased a great deal of music. Unfortunately, being in a small trailer, I do not have a filing cabinet to safely store all of this new music. Right now, most of the music is stacked on my classroom floor. A new cabinet would teach the students how important it is to take care of things that are valuable to you.

I am working very hard to teach my students about great choral literature.

I would like to build an extensive library that children can visit whenever they like. I believe something as small as this could be a great foundation for a bright future.
