My Students

Do you know how it feels to be a struggling-low reader? My incoming students are insecure and self-conscience of their reading abilities. They need to be successful and see the improvements in their reading. This success will boost their confidence, comfort, and motivation. They need success!

My students are from a small rural community.

This group seems to be very needy and emotional. This emotionality has greatly affected their learning, specifically their reading abilities. The group, as a whole, is very insecure and have low self-esteem.

My Project

I am requesting a building comprehension listening center skills pack with a storage rack, a classroom fluency station, fluency partner scripts, and a learn & read partner fluency activity pack. It is important for my students to have different choices of activities to match their individual learning styles. Certain activities better suit the way they learn best. Some will benefit from doing individual activities and some are more comfortable with a partner. It does not matter if they learn independently or with the assistance of a peer. I also like the way these supplies have a storage rack. We need help with our organization and accessibility as well. I want my classroom to be fun and motivating. My students would greatly benefit from a variety of choices and activities. I truly want them to be successful and to be proud of themselves. Their second grade experiences and success can affect them the rest of their lives. I want these tools to help make a difference for them.

As my students practice their fluent reading, their comprehension skills will improve.

I want to improve their reading but I also want to boost their confidence and self-worth. I want to make a difference for them. My hopes are to hear, "You really turned that class around!" instead of "I'm praying for you. It's a rough class."
