I teach middle school math and science.

I am the only teacher for these two core subjects for grades six, seven, and eight in our school district. That gives me six different classes per day (three of which are lab classes), a study hall that I tutor students in, along with noon recess duty. I also am the only track and cross country coach for our school. I have no adult aides and a "40 minute" prep. We average about 20 students per grade level district-wide, totaling about 315 students. My middle school math and science students come from a community of "working poor." They need highly motivational materials to match their "out of this world attitudes." Together, with supplies, we can make a difference.

My Project

Any materials, like mirrors, that can be supplied, will allow me to focus on the important task of teaching rather than the business end of trying to find materials. Please help me excel with my students again. The mirrors, if received, would be used in this upcoming year's curriculum. An additional bonus is they can be used not only in science for reflection and the way light bends but also in math to study symmetry.

Hands on learning is so terribly important and many of my students simply do not have the resources at home to develop.

The parents here work to get by. Help my math and science students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades expand there love for math and science. Put tolls in their hands so the can "feel the love of learning." My students, especially the girls, may be motivated to be future physicists, engineers, or medical personnel. Help me expand their world view of the future.
