Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We want to become math whizzes in the 21st century! You can help us with your generous and gracious donation.

My students come from all ethnic and socio-economic levels.

They come to school eager and ready to learn; some of them need a lot more exposure academically than what they are getting at home. However, I want to give all of them the same foundation in the classroom.

My Project

These resources that I have requested will help my students become better problem solvers (ex. cash register, calculators) and to master basic math skills (ex. bingo games, and partner games). My students earn money to spend on privileges in the classroom. We make a chart of how much each privilege will cost. Students accumulate money; that is placed in an envelope with their name on it. they decide when and what to spend it on. I also give money out for certain behaviors and compliments. They can exchange the money for larger increments at the end of the week. This is where I elect a banker each week that exchange the students' money. We would love a cash register for the banker to use for this activity. The students absolutely love this. It helps them to become real life problem solvers by saving and spending money.

The students love performing real life situations in the classroom during Math time.

These activities and resources will help them to understand that math is everywhere not just in the classroom or inside their textbook. Students will become great problem solvers and life-long learners. Your donations will change my students' lives forever.
