My Students

Isn't it amazing the way music grabs our attention and affects our feelings? I want to make sure my students are exposed to all styles of music in their young lives.

My students are from a very low-income rural community.

We live an hour away from any medium sized cultural centers. Many of my children come from single family homes and have parents with no jobs. The strongest support and most stable element in many of their lives is our school. My students love music and are very open to exploring all types of music. However, I have no permanent music classroom and have to travel room-to-room and between 3 schools to teach my students. It is very difficult to carry all of the Cd's that I sometimes want to use in a lesson. And it is very frustrating when a "teachable moment" could be reinforced with music that is on a cd in another building.

My Project

An i-pod and quality speaker system would allow my tunes to travel to all of my rooms and buildings. My cart would become a music library as I would be able to have hundreds of songs at my fingertips at all times! The convenience and flexibility would be wonderful for all of my students.

Please help our music program improve by donating to these technology updates.

My 500 students in 3 buildings will be so grateful. We would love to have "traveling tunes" to enhance our music education!
