Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I can still recall the science experiments I did in school and the impact they had on me. They were able to open my eyes to the complexities of the world around me. Our school lacks necessary materials to effectively teach science concepts, but the students hunger for the opportunity to learn!
The students in my classroom are genuine, hard working, and kind.
Many of them come from difficult situations, however, and school and education is their beacon of hope and stability. The school is making remarkable improvements each year. We were the third most improved school in the state last year. The students have a built in desire to learn and are passionate about knowledge.
My Project
My students need science materials, such as microscopes, goggles, games, slides, and activity tubs, in order to thoroughly investigate scientific concepts. These science materials will be utilized to inspire the current students in my classroom as well as my students in the future. Through science their minds will be opened to the possibilities of inquiry. They will start to question their preconceived notions. The materials will allow students to delve deeper into science within the classroom than they ever have before.
This request will have a profound impact on my students and their overall perception of education.
By integrating and incorporating science throughout our school day students will begin to realize that science is the foundation for all learning. Students for generations will be able to use these materials and thus their impact will be exponentially great!
