My students need percussion instruments for rhythm activities across the curriculum and in improvising and performing music!

My Students

I recently took a two week course to be certified in Orff Music training and I am thrilled to take what I learned to my 3rd grade students. Using Orff I will be able to ignite my student's interest and capabilities in music as well as intertwine musical activities with all areas of curriculum.

I teach music to all of the third grade students in my school, so I am able to ignite a love for music in over 100 students a year.

My school is in the heart of Utah with a very diverse economic base. I feel that music activities bond students in a way that can be done no other way. It helps them learn to cooperate and work together to accomplish amazing things. As students learn to play instruments together, their self-confidence grows as well as their commitment to each other through successful teamwork.

My Project

Having enough percussion instruments for all my students will allow them to explore many enriching rhythm activities. I was inspired during my Orff class to expand the types of musical activities I plan to try with my students. Some of the activities I am excited about are multi-cultural, many are connected to language arts skills, as well as math, science, and social studies applications. I plan to convince my students that RHYTHM ROCKS!

Donations to this project will help hundreds of students explore music in a very hands-on way with exciting rhythm activities and explorations.

They will be learning AND creating music as they imitate and improvise a wide variety of music styles.
