I am at one school all five days of the week, but I do not have my own classroom. I travel from room to room. I have been teaching for fourteen years. In a world of evolving technology, I want all of my students to have the very best I can provide for them. My students are fabulous. They are kindergarten through eighth graders. As their music teacher, I am blessed to be a part of their lives for nine years. We have a vast population of Hispanic students from Puerto Rico that are learning English as a second language. Literacy skills are stressed daily. Music is an important part of learning language and verbal skills. The students enjoy dancing and and playing instruments from their culture. There is a strong need for the students to be exposed to world cultures and non-Hispanic music. My Project: I currently have a personal laptop which I carry with me to every classroom. In each classroom there is either a Smartboard, whiteboard, or projector screen to display information. Unfortunately, not every room has a projector. The music series that has been provided by our district is over ten years old. With changes in technology, I feel that students need updated materials that I can provide for them through computer integration. The lack of a projector really inhibits equal learning throughout the school. The visual aspect of learning a language is critical to our bilingual students. I would use a donated projector to bring updated materials (i.e. Smartboard lessons, video clips, internet resources) to all students. My students deserve an equal and quality education. An education that prepares them for the world when they graduate and enter the workforce. I am a teacher who demands high expectations and I want to be able to deliver high expectations in what I bring into the classroom. hide» My students need a LCD projector to see music from other cultures and time periods and to use the school's Smartboard and laptop to discover all their world has to offer. details» |
