Second Grade Scientists

My students need discovery tubes, a fingerprint kit, vocabulary chart and iron filing discovery disks to begin exploring the mysteries of science.

My Students

Have you ever wondered how forensic scientists determine whose fingerprints have been left at a crime scene? Have you ever wondered how magnets hold items on the refrigerator? These and so many more questions can be answered with the use of the science equipment I have requested.

My students are inquisitive seven year old boys and girls who have a desire to find out answers to interesting questions.

They have questions that even we, as adults don't formulate. Children want to know that there is an answer to every question that they may have. My students are eager to learn and reveal the mysteries they are able to solve. Although these children come from a low income area of a large city, they have no shortage of imagination or desire to learn. They are excited at the prospect of entering into our make-shift science lab to become the scientists of the future.

My Project

With the forensic kit and other scientific supplies that we are requesting, these students can make a dream come true. They can become the scientists we've read about or that they've seen on TV, if only for 40 minutes a day. By experimenting with the filings and the fingerprint kit, the students may actually develop the desire to become a police officer or a scientist. With just a generous donation from you, one or more children can make a positive change in their lives that may lead to a great career.

Having my students become positive members of society is my ultimate goal.

Watching them choose to make positive choices in their lives such as becoming a scientist or a detective is something that I'm sure every productive member of society wants for our young people. Thank you for providing this opportunity to my students.
