This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

5th grade?!? I am a fifth year teacher and the seniority process has bumped me out of 4th grade. I am looking forward to this challenge because I will have many of my previous students. However, I am anxious because I need to build our 5th grade reading literature.

My students are phenomenal and absorb anything that comes their way.

Our school is located in a high-needs California area where my students are surrounded by concrete and bustling streets. Although I cannot afford to take my students on endless field trips, I can expose them to a new world and expand their thinking through literature.

My Project

I am seeking a class set of "The Kid Who Ran for President" to use in literature circles and whole class discussions. This book is a must read, as it teaches students about the election process and provides civic lessons in an entertaining manner. I know that my students will dive into this book immediately.

Your gift will provide my students with quality literature that will help maintain their reading interest and become familiar with the election process.
