My Students

My students need hands-on cooking experiences in our elementary classroom to help add to our math and life-science lessons!

My first grade students need small appliances to cook in our classroom in order to enrich our classroom experiences.

We will use these appliances to add hands on learning to our math curriculum and give the children opportunities to learn more about healthy eating habits.

My Project

I would love to be able to cook with my student in my classroom on a regular basis as a part of our learning. I want to be able to make it an integral part of my students' classroom experience. My students and I have chosen to ask for a blender so that we can make delicious fruit smoothies. We are requesting an electric skillet and a reversible grill/griddle for hot cooking- things like pancakes or omelets at our Valentine's Day Breakfast! We would be thrilled to get the hand held mixer to whip up a loaf of banana bread to send home with a classmate to bake at home and bring back to school the next day! Last but not least, a slow cooker would help us to make delicious soups with fresh vegetables that we are growing in our class garden.

I truly feel that these items would enrich the learning experience of my students exponentially.

I know that many of my students have parents who work several jobs and they eat fast food for many of their meals. When they do eat at home, it's often what can be quickly made and eaten before it's time for bed. Just watching real food being cooked from scratch would be an experience for them, much less taking part in that experience themselves! Please help make this a reality for my little ones!
