My Students

Do you remember your first day of kindergarten? Students can be terrified. But the one link they have is play. But cleaver teachers use play to teach. While students are easing into play teachers model how to share, take turns, and use their voice to ask.

Presently, we are a SINA school with 1/3 in free and reduced lunch in rural Iowa.

As a public school, the income from taxes has taken a toll on our salaries, supplies, and repairs. But the economy also reflects on the opportunities of the young children to go to preschool, activities with parents, and other experiences.

My Project

With the play kitchen, students will be able to role play to make friends, practice social skills, and use language. Learning how to communicate is a prerequisite to language and reading. Communication is also a way to share, play together, and have fun.

These material usually standard in a kindergarten classroom, can not be replaced at this time.

Our school can not purchase replacement items that have been damaged. The classroom environment should be an inviting place for the students to come, play, and learn.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
