My Students

Have you ever wanted a place to crash at the end of the day? Have you just run in your bedroom at home to crash onto your bed? Well, the Spacewalk "crash" pad is that place where students with severe physical and mental disabilities can crash, relax, and get the much needed sensory input they need.

I am a teacher for students with severe mental and physical disabilities.

The students in my class range in age from three to six years old. Their disabilities include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, visual impairment, developmental delay, and water on the brain. Some of the students are non-ambulatory, non-verbal, and require maximum assistance from adults to complete simple tasks. These children respond and learn the most, by learning thing through their senses.

My Project

The Spacewalk crash pad is a sensory motor dream. It is an ideal tool that can be used to teach students to walk, crawl, roll, and move. It can also be used to provide deep touch or pressure and sensory input when a student lays in it. This Spacewalk will provide the students in my class with another option in positioning through out the day. So while they lay in the Spacewalk their senses will be awakened and they will be more active in the classroom setting.

Your donation will ensure that the students in my class can receive the sensory input that they need throughout the day and a special place to "crash" when they need too.

I can assure you the amounts of smiles it brings to my students faces when they roll, crawl, or relax in the Spacewalk "crash" pad will be priceless.
