We live in an age of technology, beyond blackboards and chalk. Third-graders are almost all computer literate, but do they know how to create a a spreadsheet? a bar chart? a GIS map? a five-paragraph essay? Maybe not yet!

Right now our classroom does not have a way for both teacher and students to quickly demonstrate computer skills.

A Portable LCD Projector will take my 23 Bronx public school 3rd grade students to a high level of professionalism, whether the subject is Math, Science, Social Studies, or Literacy. If I can have the opportunity to model high-level skills for them by way of an LCD projector,there is no limit to what they can learn!

My Project

Right now our classroom does not have a way for both teacher and students to quickly demonstrate computer skills so that everyone can see. A Portable LCD Projector will not only make classroom assignments more exciting, but will help prepare them with "real world" experiences which prepare them for real careers. We will use the equipment on a daily basis for every subject. I will use it to present mini-lessons and will teach my students to use it to present their own Power Point projects, etc. It will also be used for showing film clips and other educational aids.

Since I come from a journalistic background, I love to create newspapers with my students.

The LCD will make it possible to us to have "whole class" activities in which everyone can work together/ make decisions about content and design at the same time. Once we have the equipment, we will immediately make use of it for our Bronx History Power Point collaboration with the NYPL /Bronx Historical Society. Please make this happen! It will be received with great appreciation!
