Help struggling readers! My students need help improving their reading fluency. By listening to quality stories read by adult readers, my students will learn how to add expression and interest in their voices as they read.
My students attend a public school in a rural area of Michigan.
Many of them have not had the opportunity to explore their world much outside of their hometown. We rely on reading adventurous stories to take them to places they may never get the chance to visit!
My Project
This project will give my students the opportunity to improve their reading fluency as well as grab their interest. Many of my students struggle with reading and this has led them to grow a dislike for reading. They greatly enjoy listening to me read a story aloud. However, there are only so many minutes in the school day and the read-aloud time is limited. Setting up this listening station would give students another chance to listen to a read aloud while I am working with other students.
This project will open the eyes of my students to the beauty and joy of picking up a good book.
I hope to create a classroom of life-long readers with the help of this project. Thank you!
