Citizen Scientists: Project Feederwatch

My students need 5 binoculars and 4 bird field guides to identify birds and send in the data to Cornell Lab of Ornithology in order to become citizen scientists.

My Students

Help us open our eyes to see the beautiful world of birds and become citizen scientists in the process.

My 5th and 6th grade middle school students are curious and eager to learn new things especially about wildlife.

My hope is for them to take notice and appreciate living things around them, like birds, and act like scientists in the process. Over half of the student population at our school is part of the free and reduced federal lunch program, and with the budget cuts we have endured, science supplies repeatedly get cut.

My Project

The binoculars and field guides will help my students see and identify living things around them. My goal is for them to become observant about the world, appreciate living things such as birds, act like scientists by observing, identifying, recording and reporting relevant data to a legitimate organization such as Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

My students need your help for this project to come to life.

When they learn more about the world they live in and understand its fragility and that all living things are connected and that we need each other for survival maybe they will want to help take care of it not just for humans but for all species.
