This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever had an important assignment that was due and you needed to print it out? What did you feel when you pulled your document off of the printer and the quality of your printout was bad because your printer was out of ink?

My students in my homeroom use our laser printer almost weekly, printing things for their reading journals, checking out images for their entries, and printing out their final published pieces for writing class.

The students are very creative and like to use the Internet for images in their reading journals. They enjoy searching for poetry, short stories and creative ideas for entries in their journals. Many of them have begun to use the Internet as a research tool for locating grade level appropriate literature and other articles to use in their writing.

My Project

Our printer's original cartridge lasted almost the entire school year, and just within the last week, the printer decided that the cartridge was kaput... Our students need a new ink cartridge for our printer that will allow the students to continue to print out published pieces of writing, familiarizing them with typing and keyboarding skills, how to use spell check and grammar check, therefore improving the quality of their writing both in class and in their reading journals. Your generous donation will allow the students to continue to provide quality journal entries for their reading class, and begin to teach research and other skills dependent on computer use and access to a printer.

My students in my room use our printer all the time for school related projects.

Not having an ink cartridge has effectively crippled the creativity and research, practically stalling their journal entries, which means that being able to print their writing and journal entries has a lasting impact as to how my students do business in class. Thank you so much!
