My Students

You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. Growing up in suburban Chicago, I was always blessed with all of the athletic equipment I needed. Since beginning employment as a teacher/coach at a title I school, I've learned that not all kids are so fortunate.

I work in a charter High School in suburban San Diego that serves a low income, high risk population of students who often grow up with few resources.

That said, our school has maintained very high standards and the students have flourished as a result. Part of this success is our extra-curricular opportunities that give students additional ways to grow and learn.

My Project

With very little money in our budget, it is difficult to replace equipment as it gets old and worn. Part of our constant struggle to build a competitive program is to raise funds in order to manage our annual expenses. I am requesting volleyballs and antennas to be used during the boys and girls volleyball seasons. With your donation, we will be able to build on what we have already done and continue to grow as a program that best serves these young men and women.

As someone who did not find his true identity until I became involved in sports, I know the tremendous value of competing in extra-curricular athletics.

I want to offer my athletes the same opportunities that I had, regardless of our differences in socio-economic backgrounds.
