My students need 25 copies of the "Magic Tree House" set so that they can expand their minds and get excited about the world around them.

My Students

Magic Tree House books grab the attention of the students. My students need to read something they cannot put down and we can read together as a class. These novels are very exciting to 2nd graders and will stimulate them to read the next book and then the next. I want them to love reading!

My 2nd graders attend a Title One School.

Their families have little to no money to buy books. The only books most of them have are what we provide in the classroom. They are excited about reading because I teach them to get excited and love reading! I want them to have this set of books to read together in class and to be able to have their own copy to read again and again. They are wonderful students that want to read but families right now are without jobs because of the recession and what money the families have are going to meet survival needs. This set of books would be a true treasure to each child.

My Project

We will read each of the four Magic Tree House books as part of our reading curriculum. They will help to build vocabulary, fluency, comprehension skills and comparing novels. They will learn about history and the world around them. Each book will take a week and we will do daily activities such as silent and oral reading, predictions, summarizations, comparisons with Venn diagrams. Students will draw "stretch a sketches" (pictures to retell the story and help them remember events).

This project is so important to help build the love of reading and keep their interest stimulated to go on to the next book.

It will reinforce so many of the reading skills we have worked on all year. It will help them gain knowledge of past history and encourage a love for history. These students will want to read the rest of the Magic Tree House series which will help them continue the learning process started by this series. Please help my students to have a copy of these precious books.
