My Students

At the beginning of the year many of my kindergarten students do not know how to write. Their writing at the beginning of the year is drawing pictures of their favorite things to do and their family.

Many of my students are English Language Learners.

Most come from families where the parents do not speak much English. They are very well behaved. They are very eager to learn to read and write. Most of the students work hard and want to improve in becoming a better and smarter student.

My Project

As I mentioned at the beginning of the school year my students spend their writing time drawing. Since they don't know how to write yet their stories consist of drawings. The paper will give them many opportunities to perfect the art of drawing. As the year goes by they begin to add words to their writing by labeling their pictures. Then they eventually will write sentences and move on to writing a 3 page story with a beginning, middle and end.

My students love to write and draw.

The paper will allow my students many hours of writing and drawing. They will be able to draw about their favorite story or draw a picture of their favorite character. The paper will be so helpful in allowing my students many opportunities to write.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
