My Students

Bullying, name calling, torturing and hate crimes - it is unfortunate that children are faced with these difficult obstacles in life. However, this book can provide students with a reading experience and insight into what can happen as a result of bullying and hate crimes.

My students are in sixth grade and attend a high poverty public elementary school in the state of New York.

Sixth grade can often be a awkward phase in a kids life and often times bullying, tormenting and hate crimes occur at this age level. I try to discipline my students and ensure they understand the importance of treating people kindly, especially their peers. They often do not realize the severity of their actions amongst their peers and could benefit from reading this book.

My Project

Help me to reinforce the importance of being kind to one another and to treat people with respect and kindness. These sixth grade students' do not truly understand the severity of picking on someone and what can occur if a particular student is tormented. This book, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, could leave an everlasting impact on the severity of bullying and hate crimes and leave a everlasting impression about the importance of treating people well.

This book, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, can help to make such a huge impact on their lives, how they treat people and to help them to realize what can happen and has happened to certain kids in our world as a direct result of bullying.
