Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in Las Vegas, Nevada.

They attend a school which focuses on technology and educating the whole person. Many of them come from single parent households, and our school is located in an area with the highest foreclosure rate in Las Vegas.

My Project

Because my students live in a desert, we do not get to see many forms of nature around us. To experience pond life, the life cycle of a bee, or the parts of a plant through literature and classroom activities will be an eye opening experience for these children. We will read the books together and independently. We will work on projects that give us a deeper understanding of the life sciences. Ultimately, we will learn that the world is an amazing and fascinating place through interacting with these books.

Giving a child the chance to experience the world from inside the walls of a classroom in an amazing gift.

Opening their eyes to the wonders of the world and seeing the imagination and creativity that science sparks is a true miracle. These books will help me teach these children that the world is truly amazing. We will learn to see with a scientist's eye, and to describe with a poet's voice. This literature will give the gift of learning to my students.
